If you happen to be driving through the Midwest in the late spring or summer you will notice along the sides of the roads a beautiful wildflower with spindly stems and delicate little periwinkle blue daisy like flowers. This is wild chicory. I’ve always though that it was such a beautiful wildflower and I love seeing them every summer.
It also reminds me of a crewel embroidery piece that always hung in my grandmother’s house. I always admired it growing up. It wasn’t one that she had stitched but had rescued from and antique store or thrift shop. I couldn’t find fabric with specifically chicory on it, but this wildflower fabric still seems to fit. The cross stitch pattern for this box is inspired from the vintage piece that hung on my grandmother’s wall for so many years and hopefully brings some Midwest summer into your stitching.
This pattern includes four color pages. The chart has both colors and symbols for easy stitching.
